The Gift of Life asserts that death is more fully understood, accepted, even valued when experienced in both the fullness and vulnerability of life. Drawing on vast medical background, life experience, stories, deep spiritual wisdom, and therapeutic practices, the book is an excellent resource for those dealing with the topic of dying and those joining them along the path. The Gift of Life affirms the importance of giving persons the privilege and right to manage their own dying. It also offers support for surviving family members transitioning into a new future without their loved one. It could serve well as a group resource guide for understanding end-of-life and dealing with death and grief recovery.

The Gift of Life reflects on life as a journey that always includes an ending. The more prepared we are for the signs and signals, the more we can put plans in place to enjoy little moments we will treasure so much when a loved one passes.

This is a well thought out instruction book on how to live to the best of your ability.  The life stories told illustrate the guidelines beautifully.  This book could easily be used to begin difficult but necessary family conversations. It is a book to read again and again for courage, encouragement, and confidence.

The Gift of Life: Aging Well, Aging Smart & Wisdom for the Journey shares how the experience of dying can be compared to the experience of being born.  It shares how we can find fulfilment as we age and empowers us to control end -of- life decisions so that we can surrender at the end of life with grace and gratitude for the miracle of the entire journey.  Recommended for everyone ultimately preparing for the final frontier-life beyond life. Thoughtful and explicit details of the process!

All through life we are told to prepare for career, marriage, children, and every other thing, but when it comes to death, we tend to cover our eyes and pretend it’s not real.  That is why Henderson and Mindell's book is so important.  They offer insight and education to prepare for the last phase of life and death.  Their book is written in a positive, comfortable style to offer ease and even growth in preparation for our final journey of development as we approach death and completion.

I was truly blessed by this book.  The knowledge sharpened my motivation to plan the future – emotionally, financially and spiritually, as my mother prepared ahead for her death. The stories make it real. This is a must-read book for individuals and for families.

What a great manual for the inevitable aging process we all face for ourselves and often as caretakers for our loved ones. I love the practical advice and heartfelt personal stories that make this book such a valuable and relatable resource for navigating the end-of-life process. Very thoughtfully crafted. As a caretaker for my elderly mother, I want to thank you for this beautiful work!
